An exciting match-up awaits the Dublin Scioto IRISH on Tuesday, March 1, 2005.
The IRISH play the Thomas Worthington Cardinals at the EXPO CENTER COLISEUM.
Each team brings in a very good history and a good record. The IRISH are 14 and 8 while the Cardinals are 15 and 7.
The Cardinals are coached by one of the deans of high school basketball in Central Ohio. Coach Bob Miller is in his 22nd season. His record is 459-231.
Coach Miller is known for his stingy defense. Thewebguy will come back to that subject in later paragraphs.
The IRISH know a lot about Coach Miller and his Cardinals. Over the last 10 years, thewebguy believes that the IRISH hold a 9-7 record against the Thomas Worthington Cardinals.
The IRISH have their own dean of coaches also, in Coach Tony Bisutti. Coach Bisutti's 18 year record as a head coach is 247-153.
Both coaches stress defense to their teams. Thewebguy reviewed each teams' last 15 games and here is the analysis:
| Held OPP To 40 or Less Points | Held OPP To 50 or Less Points | Held OPP To 60 or Less Points | Held OPP To 70 or Less Points |
| Dublin Scioto | 05 | 06 | 03 | 01 |
| Thomas Worthington | 05 | 04 | 06 | 00 |
This game will be a gem!
A review of the Cardinals and the IRISH 2004-05 schedules matched up two opponents. They were Marysville and Grove City. The IRISH beat Marysville 69-40 while the Cardinals beat them 64-53. The IRISH split two games with Grove City. Winning the first, 57-40 and losing the second 57-43. The Cardinals beat Grove City 58-43.
Thomas Worthington has seven seniors on their squad. Ben Dressler, Darren Hobbs, Luke Mehling and Dan Rudibaugh are the big guns on offense. Senior Kyle Coolman (6'5") heads up the post for the Cardinals. The Cardinals boast a lineup of players with height. Hobbs, Coolman, Ryan Kennedy, Austin Kizzee are all 6'5". Luke Mehling is 6'3". Thus, the IRISH have another challenge on the boards and under the basket
The Cardinals are very adept at the 3 point shot also. Dressler, Hobbs, Mehling and Rudibaugh are their main 3 point shot artists.
The IRISH play very good defense as shown in the table above. They will need another outstanding game against a very formidable opponent. Coach Bisutti will have his players ready. If the IRISH are able to come out on top against the Cardinals, it will be the teams 5th consecutive 15 win season! Quite an accomplishment besides getting to play in the District Finals.
Thewebguy would like to see the student body at the game supporting the team to victory. He is putting a challenge out to the seniors, juniors, sophomores and freshman to support the team that plays for you and Dublin Scioto High School.
LET's GO IRISH!
