TOUGH IRISH "D" LEADS TO VICTORY ON OPENING NIGHT

Worthington Kilbourne came out on fire and jumped to a quick 9-0 lead with a number of open looks. Timeout Scioto. From that point on, a very stingy, tough Irish defense didn't allow very many open looks the rest of the night, allowing just 8 more total points before halftime before taking their first lead of the night at 18-17 on a 3 pointer by Antonio Bisutti just before half. First half scoring was led by Justin Craig with 8 points. Only two other Irish scored in the first half, Antonio Bisutti and Jamare Mills with 5 points each.

The Irish built on that lead in the 3d quarter led by Ryan Duncan's 7 3d quarter points and took a 35-28 lead into the fourth quarter. Kilbourne scored the first 4 points of the 4th quarter and cut the lead to 35-32. The game remained close with Scioto maintaining a lead between 4 and 8 points for most of the quarter, beforing finishing with a 51-43 victory. Raneal Ewing scored all 8 of his points in the 4th quarter, and Joshua Ashwill added 5 in the quarter.

The theme for Scioto in scoring for the night was balance, as Justin Craig and Antonio Bisutti led the way with 10 each, followed by Jamare Mills with 9, Raneal Ewing with 8, and Ryan Duncan and Joshua Ashwill with 7 each.

TOUGH OPENING NIGHT FOR IRISH JV AND FROSH

The Irish JV fell to Kilbourne on opening night by the score of 52-39. Kilbourne led the entire game, holding leads of 13-8, 23-19 and 41-23 after the first three quarters.

Irish scorers included Dominic Madision with 15 points, Chase Sult with 9, Aaron Strausbaugh with 8, Travis Yates with 5 and Jack Flood with 2.

The Irish frosh led 13-12 after one quarter, but then hit hard times offensively before falling by the score of 56-32.

Zac Brown led the scoring with 10 points, followed by Andrew McKinley with 7, Kalib Wallace with 4, Jack Flood and Evan Ekis with 3 each, Matthew Messick and Darius McDonald with 2 each, and Spencer Talentino with 1.
