SUPER 12 HONORS FOR BMAC, GORNIAK
Scioto basketball earned recognition in the ThisWeek Newspapers Super 12 for boys and girls basketball players as senior
Guards Bradley McDougald and Brandi Gorniak were honored.
BMac follows 2008 graduate Ben Ashwill as a member of a group of players honored by the Columbus Dispatch’s weekly
newspaper arm that covers mostly suburban communities and pockets of the City of Columbus.
He was recognized not only for his steady play during the regular season and lock-down defensive ability, but for the
outstanding performances he showed in the state tournament which included a career high 32 points against Columbus
Northland in the regional finals.
In addition to Ashwill, other Irish boys alums who have earned Super 12 honors are: Mike Heine, assistant coach Mike
Fiebig, Ish Kamara and Al Kamara.
OCC-Cardinal Division players Jerrell Fernandez (Westerville Central) and Ralph Hill (Westerville North) were named
honorable mention this season.
Gorniak was noted for her versatile offensive game, including her performance as one of the best three-point shooters in
the area. She is the younger sister of Irish basketball player Blair Gorniak who earned first team all-OCC and third team
Central District recognition last season before accepting an academic scholarship to Ohio State.
Brandi’s teammate Kesi Hess was named honorable mention Super 12. These young women shared OCC-Cardinal Division player of
the year honors and earned second-team all district. They were four-year letter winners and during their time at Scioto the
Irish posted an overall record of 87-10. Both plan to play basketball in college.
There was another familiar name earning girls honorable mention with the Super 12 – Bishop Ready senior guard Christina
Bisutti. She is the daughter of Irish boys head coach Tony Bisutti In addition; she earned Second Team All-District in
Division III and honorable mention all-state honors. Along with her sister, Stephanie, she is one of the biggest fans of
the Irish program – lending her vocal support for her dad and team whenever she wasn’t playing.
