SLOW START AGAINST SPEEDY WILDCATS COSTS IRISH JVs
Westerville South jumped out to a 16-2 first quarter lead and cruised to a 51-32 win over the Irish JV team on Friday.
The Wildcats featured a quick lineup which attacked the basket and defended the entire floor. They led 16-2 after one quarter.
The Irish began to make some shorts in the second quarter, but the Wildcats kept up the pace and let 32-9 at the break.
Scioto slowed down Westerville South in the third quarter, holding the Wildcats to 8 points, but cold shooting kept the Irish
from cutting into the lead. They trailed 40-13 at the end of three quarters.
In the fourth quarter, the Irish more than doubled their offensive production by scoring 19 points and held the Wildcats to 11
points and a final score of 51-32.
J.R. Bernans led the Irish with 12 points. Max Brundige (9), Raneal Ewing (9) and Tervon Moore (2) also scored for Scioto.
The JV team is now 2-1.
