 Short-handed Irish win Season Finale

SHORT HANDED IRISH WIN FINAL REGULAR SEASON GAME 46-38 AT NEW ABLANY

Dublin Scioto, playing without Ben Ashwill, and with Blair Gorniak seeing limited playing time and being hampered by injury, defeated New Albany at New Albany by the score of 46-38 to finish the regular season with a 19-1 record, tying the best regular season record established in the 2001-2002 season. The victory also gives the Irish a final league record of 10-0 for the 2d consecutive season.

New Albany took the lead after the 1st quarter by the score of 10-9, before the Irish held the Eagles scoreless until the final 30 seconds of the 2d quarter jumping out to an 18-10 lead. New Albany scored 5 quick points to end the half to cut the lead to 18-15. Bradley McDougald led the scoring in the first half with 12 points.

The Irish defense again shined in the 3d quarter holding the Eagles to just 3 third quarter points while scoring 10 to hold an 28-18 lead entering the 4th quarter. The Eagles offense caught fire at the start of the 4th quarter, closing the margin to just 3 points on a couple of occasions. But the Irish answered each and every time and held on for the victory. While Bradley McDougald provided much of the offense throughout the game, David McKinley hit a number of big baskets, especially in the 2d half, and Rainer Duzan drained a big three after the Eagles had drained a trey to close the margin to 3. Marco St John also contributed 4 big fourth quarter points.

For the night, Bradley McDougald finished with 23 points while David McKinley added 10. Marco St John contributed 6, Rainer Duzan 3, and Kyle Duncan and DJ Olatoye 2 each.

The Irish will be back in action in their tournament opener on Saturday Feb 16th at Centerburg at 6:15 against Westland.
