Second-seeded Dublin Scioto
(22-1) stormed to an early double-digit lead against 10th-seeded Reynoldsburg (15-8) and
kept up a healthy working margin during regulation to post a 50-38 win in a
Division I Central District semifinal showdown at the Ohio Expo Center Coliseum
Saturday, March 7.
Keeping alive its dreams of a repeat Columbus
championship, the Irish parlayed a 20-7 halftime lead into a comfortable margin
throughout the second half. The Raiders trimmed the deficit to eight points on
several occasions in both the third and fourth quarters, but could get no
closer in their upset bid.
Point guard Kevin Gray led Reynoldsburg with 13
points, while sharpshooter Rainer Duzan paced Scioto with a game-high 15 points. The Irish will face
defending Ohio champ and fourth-seeded Newark (19-3) in a
district final at the same venue Saturday, March 14.
