during a 65-64 Irish win over the visiting Braves.
Star guard Bradley McDougald hit a running three-pointer as time
expired to lift Dublin Scioto to a thriling 65-64 win over rival Olentangy and
continue its 30-game Ohio Capital Conference Cardinal Division winning streak
at home Friday, Jan. 23.
Trailing by 27 points in the first half to the powerful Irish (11-1, 8-0
in the league), the plucky Braves (6-6, 3-5) gamely rallied to forge a 51-51
deadlock after three quarters of action before enjoying a seven-point advantage
at several points in the final frame. But the upset was ultimately not to be.
However, missed free throws in the waning seconds haunted Olentangy and
gave McDougald one last try from distance, which he swished as the clock hit
zeros and the crowd of Scioto students mobbed the court. David McKinley led the
Irish with 21 points, all coming on treys, while Alex Tracy paced the Braves
with 19.
