SCIOTO CLINCHES OCC CAPITAL CROWN FOR 2D YEAR IN A ROW
Dublin Scioto clinched the OCC Capital Conference title with a 59-53 victory at Big Walnut.
The Irish had to earn this year's championship in an intensely fought game in a hostile environment. The Irish
also found themselves in early foul trouble for a number of players, including 1st quarter foul trouble. But the
Irish perservered in a game of momentum swings. The score was last tied at 44-44 before the Irish pulled away down
the stretch hitting 9 out of 13 foul shots down the stretch to come out on top.
The Irish jumped out to a 15-10 first quarter lead, but cold second quarter shooting for the Irish led to the Irish
trailing at haltime 26-22.
The second half was a game of small runs, with the Eagles making a 5-0 run to end the 3d quarter to take a 41-40 lead
entering the 4th quarter. Kyle Duncan caught fire in the 3d quarter, draining four 3 pointers in the stanza. The Irish
finished with a strong 4th quarter pulling out to a 9 point lead before Big Walnut was forced to foul to try and extend
the game.
