Dublin Scioto 68, Newark 52

Second-seeded Dublin Scioto (23-1) showed what a complete team it is in beating defending state champion Newark (20-4).

"We were pretty well dialed in with what we wanted to do today," Scioto coach Tony Bisutti said. "Most people expected a typical dig-in OCC game, but we got in a nice flow and got inside early and turned it into more of an up-tempo game."

The beneficiary was 6-foot-2 guard Bradley McDougald, who scored a career-high 29 points on 10-of-12 shooting from the field. Along with his strong skills in driving to the basket, the Kansas football recruit made a career-high three three-pointers.

"I just tried to let the game come to me and take advantage of my opportunities," McDougald said. "Our offense doesn't feature one guy. Everybody feeds off each other really well. We ran some stuff out of our sets, and everybody just sets screens and plays their roles how they're supposed to. It isn't that complicated."

Deji Olatoye had 10 points and nine rebounds for Scioto, which will face the winner of last night's Cincinnati St. Xavier-Kettering Fairmont game in a regional semifinal Wednesday in the Coliseum.

The Irish went 27 of 39 from the field (68 percent), including 6 of 7 from three-point range.

Cody Dennison had 20 points for Newark (20-4), which allowed its highest point total of the season. The Wildcats came in allowing just 49 points a game.
