NEWS AND NOTES
The season opener marked the 16th meeting between Scioto and Worthington Kilbourne. The Irish now lead the series 11-5.
While opponents during games, Scioto Coach Tony Bisutti and Kilbourne Coach Tom Souder work closely as board members of the District 10 Basketball
Coaches Association. Coach Bisutti is District 10's representation to the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association, while Coach Souder is past
president of District 10.
Seven OCC Cardinal Division teams had season openers over the weekend and league members were 5-2. In addition to Scioto, winners were: Olentangy Liberty,
Westerville Central, Westerville North and Westerville South. Olentangy is the only team yet to play a regular season game.
After two tough league games, the Irish will travel to the College of Wooster for a 5 p.m. game on Sunday, December 14 against traditional northeastern Ohio
power North Canton Hoover. The Vikings won't open the regular season until December 12 due to a successful run in the Division I state football playoffs which saw
them bow out in the state semi-finals. They play in the tough Federal League. Scioto played two very competitive games at team camp over the summer against another
Federal League contender, Massillon Jackson. This game is part of a two-day series of games called the WQKT/Steve Smith Holiday Classic and includes teams from around
the state. The game before the Scioto/NCH match-up features state powers Cleveland Heights and Toledo St. John's Jesuit. The latter is a team the Irish scrimmaged in November.
