MARYSVILLE RUN IN MIDDLE QUARTERS DIFFERENCE IN JV GAME
An 11-0 run that bridged the second and third quarters allowed the Marysville JV team to post a 45-34 win on Friday night.
The Irish got off to a decent start on both ends of the floor and led 18-16 midway through the second quarter. They were fueled offensively by a pair of
treys and a free throw by Jacob McPheters, another trey by Raneal Ewing and three free throws by J.R. Bernans.
Marysville was much more aggressive on the glass as a team and were able to score consistently on put backs while limiting Scioto’s second chance point
opportunities.
Scioto made a couple of mini-runs of their own that cut the lead to 6 points on two occasions, but Marysville always responded with enough scoring of
their own to manage the lead and claim the victory.
Ewing was the leading scorer for the Irish with 10 points. He was followed by Bernans (8) and McPheters (7). Also scoring were Gabe McGlone (5) and
Terrill Matthews (4).
Marysville was led in scoring by Trevor Morris with 11 points. Other Monarch scorers were: Braden Short (6), Michael Waite (5), Mike Romesburg (4), Paul
Devine (3) and Chris Coburn (2).
The Irish are now 4-6 overall and 3-4 in league play. They are back in action with the varsity on Tuesday at Columbus St. Charles.
