STRONG 4TH QUARTER PROPELS JVS TO WIN
The Irish JV squad locked down on defense and had four different players score in the fourth quarter in order to earn a 31-24 win over Olentangy.
Scioto led heading into the 4th quarter, but the Olentangy scored first and led for the first time in the game at 24-23. Neither team was able to score in
the next three minutes.
Jacob McPheters, who scored a game high 14 points, switched momentum back to the Irish with an outstanding drive and finish. He made the lay-up and was
fouled. When he canned the free throw, the Irish had a 26-24 lead they would not relinquish.
Max Brundige extended the lead to 28-24 of a great transition feed from Gabe McGlone with 1:24 to go in the game. The Irish continued to defend well and
were able to run clock by spreading the floor.
J.R. Bernans hit the first of a 1+1 with 20.4 seconds to go and the Irish led 29-24. Raneal Ewing rebounded a missed Olentangy trey with 9.5 seconds to
go and hit both ends of the 1+1 to round out the scoring.
McPheters scored in all four quarters and was 3-3 at the line to yield 14 points. Also in the Irish scoring column: Brundige (6), McGlone (4), Jordan
Emerson (2), Ewing (2), Tervon Moore (2) and Bernans (1).
