JVS FALL TO WARHAWKS
Despite a quick start, the Irish JV squad fell 55-26 at Westerville Central. The loss leaves the Irish 3-2 overall and
2-2 in OCC Cardinal Division action.
The Irish led this game 10-9 after one quarter courtesy of good ball movement and taking care of the ball. Three of
four baskets were assisted in the opening quarter.
In the second quarter, the Irish started turning the ball over and gave up several offensive rebounds. This allowed
the Warhawks to establish a 25-16 lead at the half. They outscored the Irish 14-4 in the paint during the first half.
A slow start in the third quarter saw the Irish quickly behind by double digits and the Warhawks moved ahead to a
40-20 lead after three quarters. They closed out the fourth quarter with a 15-6 advantage that yielded the final score
of 55-26.
The Warhawks outscored the Irish 34-12 in the paint and had a plus 10 advantage on turnovers.
Max Brundige was the leading Irish scorer with 7 points. Others in the scoring column were: Jordan Emerson (6), J.R.
Bernans (4), Jacob McPheters (4), Raneal Ewing (3) and Tervon Moore (2).
Donnie Fitzgerald led Westerville Central with 14 points and Shabazz Price chipped in 13.
The Irish JVs are back in action at 5:30 p.m. on December 30 at Columbus Independence.
