QUICK START, LATE FREE THROWS LEAD TO JV WIN
The Irish JV team jumped out to a 31-16 halftime lead and weather a couple of Westerville North runs in the fourth
quarter by hitting their free throws on the way to a 48-40 win.
Using good ball movement, the Irish were able to get good looks at the basket. They hit four first half treys as a result.
Combined with four 2 point buckets and a 5-8 performance at the free throw line they established a comfortable lead.
Westerville North ratcheted up the defense in the third quarter and held the Irish to 5 points. They were able to cut the
lead to 9 points at 36-27. Heading into the final 3 minutes they only trailed 38-34 when sophomore wing J.R. Bernans went
to the line on four consecutive possessions between 2:52 and 1:05.
He missed his first and made six consecutive tries before missing his last attempt. This helped the Irish build a 44-36
lead.
Raneal Ewing led the Irish with 15 points and was 5-6 at the free throw line. Tervon Moore chipped in 8 points and Bernans
had 7 made free throws. Max Brundige had 6 points and a team high 7 rebounds. Jacob McPheters had 5 points and a game high
4 assists. Gabe McGlone (4) and Dom Rosso (3) rounded out the scoring.
Brian Chandler led the Warriors with 11 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists.
The Irish are 6-8 overall and 5-5 in OCC Cardinal play.
