SCIOTO JV VICTORIOUS IN DOUBLE OVERTIME THRILLER
Wow!! Games like this show what a team is made of, and the Irish JV showed what they were made of tonight by gutting out
an unbelievable double overtime win by the score of 50-47!
Raneal Ewing scored the first basket of the season to give the Irish a 2-0 lead at the 6:30 mark of the 1st quarter.
The Irish would not lead again until overtime.
With a very young lineup including 4 freshman starters, after that first basket the Irish got off to a slow start,
falling behind 14-5 at the end of the first quarter. But from that point forward, the Irish battled tough and won every
quarter, and although getting within 1 or 2 points on several occasions were never able to tie the game or take the
lead until Raneal Ewing hit a 3-pointer with 25 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game and send it into overtime.
The Irish won the 4th quarter 16-13 with JR Bernans and Raneal Ewing leading the way with 7 points each.
The overtimes were nip and tuck all the way, with the Irish finally sealing the victory after Destin Thomas hit 2 free throws
with 7 seconds remaining, and Jamare Mills intercepting a pass with 3 seconds left.
The Irish were led in scoring by Reneal Ewing with 22 points and Destin Thomas with 9, including 4 in the 2d overtime. JR Bernans
and Jamare Mills added 7 each, Jacob McPhetes 3 and Rahim Wasim 2.
