JVS WIN, FRESHMEN LOSE LEAGUE OPENERS

The Irish JV improved to 1-1 with a 47-37 victory in the league opener over Olentangy. The game started with a pair of 9 point runs, as the Irish quickly jumped out to a 9-0 lead, only to see that lead evaporate just as quickly as Olentangy came back to tie it at 9. Leading 28-25 as the 3d quarter was coming to an end, the Irish then went on a 13-0 run to pull ahead 41-25 en route to their first win of the season. A very balanced scoring attack was led by Ryan Duncan with 11 points, Austin Mooney with 8, Jalen Johnson with 7, Matt Strausbaugh and Tim Shadoan with 6 each, Joshua Ashwill with 5 and Tyler Flaherty and Drew Cullen with 2 each.

The Freshman dropped their league opener by the score of 46-34. The first quarter ended in a 10-10 tie. There was a lid on the basket for the Irish during the 2d and 3d quarters as they fell behind 32-20 after 3 quarters. The Irish made a run in the 4th quarter, before Olentangy pushed the final margin back out to 12. Irish scoring was led by Grant Anderson with 9 and Braxton Wallace with 7. Other scorers were Aaron Strausbaugh and Evan Demars with 4 each, Tim Shadoan and Brayden Pfeiffer with 3 each, and Terrance Cutchember and Tyler Zach with 2 each.
