Dublin Scioto played a solid fourth quarter in pulling away from Olentangy 71-56 for their first conference vicroty of the year, and second victory in a row.
The Irish trailed the entire first half, 16-8 after one quarter, and after falling behind by 12 in the 2d quarter they closed the half on a mini-run to
cut the Olentangy lead to just 5 at 29-24.
The third quarter was evenly fought, and after Dom Rosso buried a three pointer at the buzzer it brought the Irish to within a single point, 42-41, headed into
the fourth quarter. The Irish went on a 12-4 run to start the fourth quarter (on 3 baskets and 6 points from Jamare Mills, a 2 point basket by Justin Craig
after a Dom Rosso steal, a 2 point basket by Antonio Bisutti and 2 free throws by Joshua Ashwill) to take a 53-46 lead. After Olentangy cut the lead to
53-49, the Irish scored the next 8 points (a three pointer by Ashwill, 2 pointer by Raneal Ewing and an old-fashioned 3 point play by Mills) to push the
lead out to 61-49. The Irish allowed no chance for a comeback by connecting on 10 free throws (4 by Bisutti, 2 by Ewing, 2 by Jereme Nsumbu and 2 by
Ashwill) down the stretch to pull away for the 71-56 victory.
Raneal Ewing scored 18 to lead the Irish in scoring, including 7 in the first quarter to keep the game close. Jamare Mills added 13 including 9 in the fourth
that included a couple of offensive rebound put backs. Ashwill added 12, including 7 in the fourth, Bisutti added 8 that included 6 out of 6 free throws
in the fourth quarter and Justin Craig added 7. Max Brundige added 5, all in the 3d quarter which helped fuel the 3d quarter comeback, and Jereme Nsumbe
also had 5.
The Irish JV jumped out to a 17-0 lead after one quarter, then held on for a 54-47 overtime vicotry over Olentangy. Austin Mooney got the Irish going
with a 3 pointer, and Ryan Gibson added 8 first quarter points for the Irish. During the remainder of the game, Olentangy played catch-up, trimming the
Irish lead to 26-24 at half and 33-27 after 3 quarters. It appeared the Irish had the game in control as they led 39-31 after two baskets by Ryan Duncan, and
a charge drawn by Duncan negated on Olentangy basket. The Irish still led 47-42 with 33 seconds remaining, but were unable to hang on as Olentangy
scored 5 quick points to tie the game and send it to Overtime. In overtime, Austin Mooney made 2 free throws, which was followed by a free throw by Ryan
Gibson, and three points by Ryan Duncan to secure the victory.
Ryan Duncan led the scoring with 14 points, followed by Ryan Gibson with 13. Austin Mooney added 8, Joshua Ashwill 7, Braxton Wallace 4, and Gabe
McGlone, Travis Yates, Matthew Strausbaugh and Patrick Rooney with 2 each.
The Irish freshmen improved their recored to 6-3 with a 31-30 hard fought victory over Olentangy. Of the six Irish wins, 5 have been by 2 points or less.
This was a close game throughout, with Olentangy leading after each of the first three quarters by scores of 7-6, 15-13 and 25-17. The Irish still trailed
27-23 with three minutes remaining, when Braxton Wallace made a basket after a steal by Evan Demars to cut the lead to 27-25. After Olentangy went ahead
29-25, Tim Shadoan stole the ball and drove the length of the floor, drawing a foul and making both free throws to cut the lead back to 29-27. After Olentangy split two free throws,
Shadoan then nailed a three pointer to tie the game at 30-30 with 30 seconds to go. After an Olentangy turnover, Shadoan drove the length of the floor and
was fouled with 5.8 seconds to go. He made one of two free throws, and after Olentangy missed a three the buzzer, the Irish had another nailbiting
victory.
Irish scoring was led by Grant Anderson with 10 points, including 8 in the first half. Tim Shadoan was next with 8, all in the fourth quarter, followed by
Braxton Wallace with 7 and Aaron Strausbaugh with 6.
