IRISH WIN OVER NEW ALBANY
Dublin Scioto battled a well-prepared New Albany team that has been improving each game, and won a hard fought 58-45 victory.
The Irish led the entire game, but struggled on the offensive end for the first 3 quarters. Blair Gorniak contributed 6 first
quarter points as the Irish held a 10-6 lead after one quarter. Marco St John and Bradley McDougald each contributed 2 points in the
quarter.
The Irish increased their lead to 20-11 at halftime as Ben Ashwill contributed 6 points in the quarter, and Bradley McDougald added 4.
The Irish also won the 3d quarter 12-9 as the lead after 3 quarters was 32-20. Marco St John and Blair Gorniak each contributed 4 third
quarter points, while Ben Ashwill and Bradley McDougald each had 2.
Early in the 4th quarter the Irish increased their lead to 18 points, but New Albany fought hard the entire quarter and was able to close the
gap for the final 48-35 count. Fourth quarter scoring was led by Marco St John with 7, Ben Ashwill with 6, while Bradley McDougald and Kyle
Duncan each added 5.
For the night Ben Ashwill led a very balanced scoring attack with 14, while Marco St John and Bradley McDougald each had 13, Blair Gorniak
12, Kyle Duncan 5 and David McKinley 1.
The Irish also won the battle of boards by a count of 33-23.
The Irish next game is Friday Jan 18th at Franklin Heights.
