IRISH TO VISIT WARHAWKS IN CARDINAL CLASH

The Irish will hit the road again this week as they face OCC Cardinal Division foe Westerville Central on Tuesday, December 23.

Both teams are coming off Friday night victories – Scioto won 52-29 at Westerville North and Central won at Marysville 68-43.

The Warhawks led 14-11 after one quarter, but took control with a 20-10 second quarter to earn their first league win. They were led in scoring by 5-8 senior guard Jerrell Fernandez with 20 points. He was joined in double figures by 6-3 forward Jordan Devoll (13) and 6-6 junior post Max Van Meter (10).

Through four games, Fernandez is averaging 23 points. Van Meter is averaging 12. Other players in the primary rotation are: 6-6 sophomore post Nick Vannett, 5-10 senior guard/forward JaVaughn Graves, 6-1 senior forward Lucious Mayfield, 6-1 senior forward Solomon Brown and 6-1 senior forward Brady Prugh. The Warhawks like to run and attack the basket.

Last season Westerville Central won the OCC Central with a 9-1 record and finished 14-7 overall. They enter this contest 2-2 overall and 1-2 in the OCC Cardinal.
