IRISH TO FACE BRIGGS IN SECTIONAL TOURNAMENT

Scioto will open the Central District Division I tournament with a sectional match-up against Columbus Briggs at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25 at Worthington Christian.

The Bruins are a Columbus City League team and are part of the South Division. As of February 9 their record was 6-11 overall and 5-7 in league play. The winner will face Columbus West (4-13/3-11 CCL-South) at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, February 28 at Olentangy Orange.

As most observers expected, the Irish are the number 2 seed behind Columbus Northland. The Irish selected the middle bracket after the Vikings selected the lower bracket.

Other teams in the Scioto bracket include: Columbus Marion-Franklin, Columbus St. Charles, Columbus Walnut Ridge, Delaware Hayes, Hilliard Davidson, Marysville, Newark (#4), Olentangy Liberty, Reynoldsburg (10), Upper Arlington (7) and Zanesville.

Two other Ohio Capital Conference Cardinal Division teams, Westerville South (8) and Westerville Central (12) earned seeds as well.

The top 12 seeds in order are: Northland (1), Scioto (2), Grove City (3), Newark (4), Dublin Coffman (5), Columbus Beechcroft (6), Upper Arlington (7), Westerville South (8), Gahanna Lincoln (9), Reynoldsburg (10), Mt. Vernon (11) and Westerville Central (12).
