IRISH FALL TO BEARCATS FOR FIRST LOSS, NOW 18-1
The Irish suffered their first loss of the season by falling to Brookhaven by the count of 57-49. The first quarter was even and ended with
the score tied at 14. Kyle Duncan led the Irish with 6 points on two 3 pointers, while Bradley McDougald added 4. The Irish fell behind by 5 in
the 2d quarter, but finished strong taking a 26-24 lead into the half. Scoring in the 2d quarter was balanced as 6 players scored either 2 or 3 points
each.
The 3d quarter was the difference in the game as Brookhaven came out in a zone that shutdown the Irish who scored only 2 points in the quarter, while
Brookhaven put 12 on the board to take 36-28 lead into the 4th quarter. The Irish battled the Bearcats even in the 4th quarter but could get no closer
than 6 points.
Ben Ashwill led the Irish in scoring with 19, including 16 in the 2d half. Kyle Duncan added 11, Bradley McDougald 9, Blair Gorniak 6, and Marco St John
and DJ Olatoye 2 each.
The Irish will look to rebound on Friday night at New Albany in their final regular season game of the year.
