Dublin Scioto played Westerville South tight for the first quarter and a half. The Irish trailed 12-9 after one quarter with Raneal Ewing scoring 7 points in the quarter and Jamare Mills adding 2.
In the second quarter, the Irish trailed 17-13, however South went on a run to outscore the Irish 13-2 during the last four minutes of the half and the Irish found themselves trailing 30-15 at half. Joshua Ashwill had 4 2nd quarter points, and Ewing added 2 more.
The 3rd quarter was all South as they outscored the Irish 21-6 to take a commanding 51-21 lead. Mills had 4 points in the quarter, and Antonio Bisutti added a pair of foul shots.
For the night, the Irish were led by Ewing with 16 points, Justin Craig and Mills with 6 points each, Ashwill with 4, Bisutti with 3, and Ryan Duncan and Jalen Johnson with 2 each.
The only Irish charge for the night was drawn by Bisutti.
The Irish record is now 2-1, including 1-1 in the conference.
The Irish JV moved to 2-0 in conference play with a 48-43 victory over Westerville South.
In a game that was close all the way, the Irish trailed after the first quarter 13-12. They then led at the half 28-25 and trailed after the 3rd quarter 35-31.
With the score tied 37-37, Tyler Zack put the Irish up for good with a basket making the score 39-37. Abdull Abdullaho's basket with just over 3 minutes remaining extended the lead to 41-37. After South cut the lead to 2, Dominic Madison put the Irish up 43-37 with a basket, and Braxton Wallace's basket extended the lead to 45-37 with 2 and a half minutes to play. South cut the lead to 45-43, before Aaron Strausbaugh sealed the victory with a 3 pointer with 20 seconds remaining.
Madison lead the scoring with 15 points, followed by Travis Yates with 9, Wallace with 8, Strausbaugh and Chase Sult with 6 each, Abdullah with 3 and Zack with 2. .
The Irish JVs are now 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the OCC Cardinal.
The Irish freshmen fell to 1-2 for the season with a 41-37 loss to Westerville South. The Irish fell behind 10-2 after one quarter, and then battled back the rest of the night before coming up just short.
The Irish trailed 19-17 at the half, and 28-26 after three quarters. Scoring was led by Darius McDonald with 12, Jacob Shafer with 8 including 2 three pointers, Jack Flood with 8, Andrew McKinley with 7, and Spencer Talentino with 2.
