The Irish needed a strong fourth quarter to pull out a 42-41 victory over St. Charles. In a close first half, the Irish maintaned small leads of 8-7 after
one quarter, and 22-20 at the half. St. Charles oustcored Scioto 15-7 in the 3d quarter to take a 35-29 lead into the fourth. Scioto went on an 11-4 run
to start the 4th, finally taking a 40-39 lead on a basket by Reneal Ewing with 2:55 to go. After turnovers by both teams, St. Charles was fouled and made both free
throws with :49 seconds remaining to take a 41-40 lead. Jamare Mills gave the lead back to Scioto, 42-41 on a power move to the basket with 28 seconds
remaining. St. Charles took a timeout with 11 seconds remaining, and then missed a three point attempt at the buzzer as the Irish now owns their second
victory of the season.
Jamare Mills and Raneal Ewing each scored 15 to pace the Irish. Gabe McGlone played a strong game and contributed 10 points, including 5 in the fourth
quarter to help spark the Irish comeback. The only other Irish player to score was Antonio Bisutti with 2.
The Irish JV fell to St. Charles by the score of 39-33. The game was close all the way, being tied 12-12 after one, the Irish leading 18-16 half, and St
Charles leading 26-23 after three. Ryan Duncan led the scoring with 7 points, followed by Jalen Johnson and Patrick Rooney with 5 each, Joshua Ashwill,
Ryan Gibson, Gabe McGlone and Austin Mooney with 4 each.
