IRISH FALL TO CELTICS

Playing without 6'5" Jamare Mills, one of the team's leading scorers and rebounders, the Irish struggled all night in losing to Dublin Jerome by the score of 75-32. The Irish were never really in this game, falling behind 18-7 after one, and 30-12 at the half.

The Irish were led in scoring by Hector Cintron and Raneal Ewing with 9 each. Other Irish scorers were Antonio Bisutti with 5, Joshua Ashwill and Justin Craig with 3 each, Ryan Duncan with 2, and Jalen Johnson with 1.

IRISH JV AND FROSH BOTH WIN

The Irish JV used a balance scoring attack, and made just enough late free throws to defeat Dublin Jerome by the score of 52-48. The Irish trailed 14-13 after the first quarter, but maintained a small lead most of the game after that, leading 25-20 at half and 33-30 after three quarters. Jerome was forced to foul the Irish late in the game to try to extend the game, and although the front end of two one in one situations were missed, in two other situations both ends were made, as Joshua Ashwill converted two free throws to put the Irish up 4, and then after Jerome cut it to two, victory was finally sealed when Patrick Rooney sank two free throws with only seconds remaining.

A balanced scoring attack was led by Travis Yates, who played a solid game underneath the basket, and Patrick Rooney who scored 12 points each. Jalen Johnson and Joshua Ashwill added 8 points each, Gabe McGlone added 6, Ryan Duncan contributed 4 and Ryan Gibson added 2.

The Irish freshmen pulled out an exciting 34-33 victory. Trailing most of the night Dublin Jerome made a late run and had three attempts to win the game in the final seconds, missing a driving layup attempt and two put back attempts as the final horn sounded. This game was tied 29-29 with 3:07 to play when Chase Sult nailed a three to put the Irish ahead to stay. Chase scored his other two points with 1:20 remaining off a nice feed from Aaron Strausbaugh to put the Irish up 34-29, but two quick baskets by Jerome closed the gap to 34-33 before the exciting finish. The Irish were led by Aaron Strausbaugh and Grant Anderson with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Chase Sult added 5, Braxton Wallace 4, and Tim Shadoan and Evan Demars 2 each.
