IRISH EDGED AT THE BUZZER BY NORTH CANTON HOOVER
North Canton Hoover's Tyler Fausnight made a one-handed bankshot putback at the buzzer to give the Vikings a 50-48 win
over Dublin Scioto in the Steve Smith Classic at the College of Wooster on Sunday.
An aggressive Vikings defense and cold Scioto shooting resulted in a 31-16 halftime deficit. North Canton Hoover still
led 40-29 heading into the 4th quarter, but the Irish started to heat up from outside and extended the defense.
They made four treys in the quarter -- after having made none in the first three quarters -- and the Irish took their
only lead of the game (48-47) on a pair of late free throws.
The Vikings split a pair of free throws to tie it and an Irish turnover gave them back the ball with just under a
minute to go.
They ran the clock down to 16.5 seconds and called time. A play designed to drive and dish resulted in a shot that
went long off the rim and resulted in the putback.
