Dublin Scioto lost a closely contested battle when a last second three point attempt just missed allowing Dublin Jerome to hang
on for a 43-40 victory.
The Irish had another fast start jumping out to a 9-2 lead. Antonio Bisutti scored the first five Irish points. The Irish held a
13-8 lead after the first quarter. Jalen Johnson added 4 points to go along with Bisutti's five for the quarter.
Jerome scored the first 8 points of the 2nd quarter to take a 16-13 lead before Joshua Ashwill tied it with a 3 pointer. A late
Jerome basket gave them a 23-22 lead at the half, a lead they would never give up. Ashwill scored 6 points in the quarter, while
Bisutti added 3 more.
Jerome scored the first 6 points of the 3rd quarter to take a 29-22 lead before a Justin Craig basket made it 29-24. The Irish
managed only 4 points in the quarter, and trailed 34-26 entering the 4th.
The Irish slowly fought there way back in the quarter and trailed 39-37 after a Raneal Ewing basket. Jerome pushed the lead out
to 43-37 before an Ashwill 3 made it 43-40 with 33 seconds to go. Jerome then missed the front end of a one and one, however an
Irish 3 point attempt was just off the mark and Jerome grabbed the rebound. The Irish fouled, and again Jerome failed to convert,
this time missing two free throws and the Irish were still alive with 10 seconds remaining. However the final three point attempt
was also just off the mark, and Jerome hung on for the 43-40 win.
Bisutti and Ashwill led the Irish with 11 points each, followed by Ewing with 6. Gabe McGlone, Johnson and Craig added 4 points
each.
The Irish fall to 6-12 overall and 3-10 in the Ohio Capital Conference Cardinal Division. They close out the home schedule on
Tuesday, Feb 15th against Hilliard Bradley on Senior Night.

The Irish JVs trailed only once at 6-5, opened up a 13 point lead in the 3rd quarter at 35-22, and then hung on to defeat
Dublin Jerome by the score of 50-44.
Aaron Strausbaugh and Dominic Madison led the Irish with 7 first quarter points each as they opened up a 16-6 lead after the
1st quarter.
Jerome outscored the Irish 12-7 in the 2nd quarter to close to within 23-18 at the half. Madison added 5 more points in the quarter,
including a last second 3 pointer.
The Irish took their biggest lead at 35-22 in the 3rd quarter, before Jerome closed the quarter on a 6-0 run to trail 35-28 after
three. Ryan Gibson led the Irish with 5 points in the quarter.
Jerome scored the first 2 points of the 4th quarter to extend their run to 8-0 and to close within 5. A Gibson steal and layup
ended the run and put the Irish up 37-30. Gibson scored the next 6 points also on two 3 pointers, both assisted by Strausbaugh, and
the Irish led 43-35. After Jerome closed to 43-41 and had the ball, a double team steal by Braxton Wallace and Madison led to a
Madison basket and gave the Irish a 45-41 lead. Jerome closed to 47-44 and had the ball, before a Madison steal led to 1 free
throw by Madison and the Irish had a 48-44 lead with 16 seconds remaining. The Irish were again impressive at the foul line,
hitting 12 out of 14 for the night.
Gibson was high scorer with 19, including 12 in the fourth quarter. Madison added 17, while Strausbaugh chipped in with 12.
The only other Irish scorer was Chase Sult with 2 points.
The Irish JVs are 10-8 overall and 7-6 in league play.
In a game that was closely contested in the first half, an impressive Irish 2nd half allowed the Irish to pull away from Jerome for a 51-32 win and avenge
an early season 4 point loss at Jerome.
The first half was close the entire way, with 6 lead changes and 5 ties. The biggest Irish lead in the half was 4, while Jerome's biggest lead was 3. Jerome led 13-12 after one quarter and 23-22 at the half. Andrew McKinley and Zac Brown each provided 6 first half points, while Darius McDonald added 5.
McKinley also drew a charge.
A McKinley 3 pointer gave the Irish a 25-23 lead which they would never relinquish. A strong third quarter allowed the Irish to take a 38-27 lead into the
fourth. Brown contributed 6 points on consecutive old fashioned 3 point plays, the first one on an extremely difficult shot as he was falling to the floor
after being fouled. McDonald added 4 points, while McKinley and Kalib Wallace had 3 each.
The Irish won the fourth quarter 13-5 and won the 2nd half 29-9. McKinley added 5 points in the quarter on 5-6 free throw shooting, while McDonald, Matthew
Messick, Brown and Spencer Talentino added 2 each.
For the night, the Irish were led by McKinley and Brown with 14 points each. Brown's 14 included 6 out of 6 in free throws. McDonald added 11,
Wallace 5, Jack Flood 3, and Messick and Talentino 2 each.
The Irish improved to 7-11 overall and 5-8 in OCC Cardinal Division play.
