FROSH EXTEND WINNING STREAK TO FOUR GAMES
A 9-0 run to start the third quarter allowed the Irish freshman to take control of a close game against Marysville on the way to a 43-25 victory.
Scioto held Marysville under 10 points in all four quarters on their way to the victory. On a night when the shots weren’t falling consistently for either
team, the Irish headed to the line 19 times and converted 14.
The Irish led 18-14 at the break and didn’t take full advantage of the charity stripe by hitting only 7-12. In the second half, they were a perfect 7-7.
Jeremie Nsumbu led all scorers with 10 points and was 6-6 at the line. Kris Simonton was next and scored all 7 of his points in the decisive third quarter,
including a traditional three-point play to cap the 9-0 run and give the Irish a 27-14 lead midway through the period.
Other Irish scorers were: Jamyl Copeland (7),Tyler Flaherty (5), Ryan Gibson (4), Patrick Rooney (4) Ryan Duncan (3) and Austin Mooney (3).
The freshmen are 7-1 overall and 6-1 in OCC Cardinal play. They will be back in action on Friday, January 23 at home against Olentangy. The Irish won the
first match-up in Lewis Center by a final score of 50-43.
