CONGRATULATIONS NORTHLAND, CHRISTINA BISUTTI
The Irish basketball program sends out its congratulations to Coach Satch Sullinger and the Northland Vikings for winning
the Division I state championship on Saturday night at OSU Schottenstein Center.
Northland controlled the tempo and the boards for most of the game before Cincinnati Princeton made a furious fourth
quarter rally to tie the game. Northland's Jared Sullinger sank two of three free throws with less than three seconds to
go to give his team a 60-58 lead and a long Princeton trey attempt missed at the buzzer.
A member of the Columbus City League, Northland is the second consecutive Central District team and Columbus Regional
winner to earn the state's big school state title.
Scioto beat defending state champ Newark 68-52 in a district final this season and also eliminated another of last year's
final four participants, Cincinnati St. Xavier, with a 68-49 regional semi-final win. The Irish gave Northland it's
stiffest test in the tournament, taking them to overtime in the regional final before falling 54-53.
Congratulations also go out to Columbus Bishop Ready senior guard Christina Bisutti who won the three-point shootout
finals -- in double overtime -- at halftime of the Division I championship. She was one of two girls who advanced from a
preliminary competition earlier in the day. Click here to see
the finals. Christina is Irish Coach Tony Bisutti's daughter.
