Coach B Picks up District 10 Honors

ONE FOR THE THUMB: COACH B PICKS UP DISTRICT 10 HONORS

Irish Coach Tony Bisutti picked up a fifth and final Coach of the Year honor as part of the District 10 Coaches Association All-Star games held at New Albany High School on April 5.

He shared the Division I honors with Satch Sullinger, coach of the Division I state champion Northland Vikings. Previously, Coach B earned the Associated Press Division I State, Central District Division I, Columbus Dispatch All Metro and Ohio Capital Conference – Cardinal Division Coach of the Year honors.

It was a good day for the Irish and the Bisutti family as the coaching staff earned recognition for the outstanding season and tournament run. Coach B’s daughter Christina was recognized as Division III player of the year, received a scholarship from the association and played in the girls all-star game.

A senior at Bishop Ready, she happened to play on the winning team – designated home on the scoreboard – which won 67-63 over the visitors. She joined two Irish players on the winning squad – seniors Brandi Gorniak and Kesi Hess. The latter was named game MVP for scoring 15 points in her team’s victory.

Two Irish boys players were named to the OCC all-stars who took on a team of Columbus City League players in the nightcap of three games. Bradley McDougald, OCC Cardinal Player of the Year and 2nd team All-District, was unable to play due to injury. David McKinley, first team all OCC Cardinal and honorable mention All-District, started and hit the first points of the game for his team.

However, an athletic Columbus City League squad raced out to a 24 point halftime lead in this run-and-gun affair featuring very little defense, and, coasted to a 116-84 win. Northland’s Dimonde Hale, who scored 21 points, was named game MVP.
