The Dublin Scioto Irish Boys Basketball Team will be looking to continue to build off of their late season improvement from what was otherwise a disappointing 2009-10 campaign. While enduring many growing pains, the young Irish team gained valuable varsity experience last year. The team finished the season with seven underclassmen in the rotation. Returning players that we are counting on to lead the way include seniors
Raneal Ewing, Justin Craig, Jalen Johnson and Jamare Mills; juniors Ryan Duncan and Ryan Gibson; Sophomores Antonio Bisutti, Josh Ashwill and Travis Yates. New to the green & silver and looking to make an impact will be junior Dominic Madison.
"Reliability" has been the theme and catch-phrase used in regards to this year's Irish roundball team. The coaching staff has challenged each and every player to prove they have learned from the past, and can be relied upon to produce this season. Offensively, we need to be more diverse and less one-dimensional. Look for us to push it harder in transition, but work hard in our decision-making when on the break. As always, we must be willing and able to execute in the half court. Our defense made great strides at the end of last season. We need to continue to build upon that. When we are sound and well positioned, we will be hard to score upon!
Scioto enters play in the Cardinal Division with a tall challenge at hand, as many of the teams return good and experienced talent. All three of the Westerville schools should be good, both Olentangy and Olentangy Liberty return a decent core of players as does Dublin Jerome and Marysville, who were both very young last season. It is our hope that we get back to playing what we call "Irish Basketball" and that is hanging our hat on being tough and aggressive aT the defensive end, while being solid with the ball and being able to play at the appropriate pace at the offensive end. We are so looking forward to this season. Our guys know we can be very good, although we've got a lot of work to do to bring it all together. The season will be a marathon, not a sprint. We thank you our fans for your support and to come along for the run. See you at a game and go Irish!
