Coach Bisutti welcomed 10 alumni back to Dublin Scioto High School for the 2nd Annual Varsity Alumni scrimmage.

Kevin Cunningham, Joe Duzan, Zack Duzan, Mike Fiebig, Stan Fulk, Trevor Sheppard, Chris Solomon, Brent Walton, Kyle Weakley and Eric Yates played for the alumni.

The message was clear from Coach Bisutti that the alumni would have their hands full and it was not going to like last years rain of three pointers by the alumni!

Scrimmage - Dublin Scioto Alumni vs Dublin Scioto Varsity


The alumni started out where they left off last year with Mike Fiebig hitting a three pointer to open the game. As the Alumni jumped out to a quick lead only to see the IRISH Varsity shoot a couple of their own 3 pointers. Austin O'Connell got the Varsity started with his own three pointer.

The varsity played a tough defense while the alumni took the ball to the basket. The alumni went 4 for 4 for from the charity stripe. Trevor Sheppard, Zach Duzan Brent Walton and Mike Fiebig added two point baskets for the alumni in the first quarter.

Brad McDougald matched Austin's 3 point basket and David McKinley, Kevin Lolli and Austin added 2 point buckets to keep the Varsity close at the end of the first quarter. The IRISH trailed by 3 at the end of the 1st quarter 15-12.

The Alumni started shooting more from 3 point land in the second quarter as Joe Duzan, Eric Yates and Mike Fiebig hit on three point buckets.

Now IRISH fans, you had to be there to witness and hear a particular fan in the stands! You see, at one point in time there were 3 yes count 'em...3 Duzans' on the court. Joe and Zack for the alumni and Rainer a sophomore for the Varsity! Rainer matched his oldest brother's 3 point shot with one of his own. YOWSIR! YOWSIR! YOWSIR! Thewebguy thought he was seeing things in triplicate.


The Alumni left the floor at half time with a six point lead 32-26.

The Varsity opened up the third quarter with a barrage of 3 point shots by Spencer Mooney, Bradley McDougald and Austin O'Connell. The Alumni had two of their own by Chris Solomon and Zach Duzan! The IRISH outscored the Alumni 17 - 10 and took the lead at the end of the third quarter 43-42. A slim margin but one that they were able to open up in the fourth quarter. Key to the third quarter was holding Mike Fiebig scoreless!

The IRISH took the ball to the bucket in the fourth quarter as the went four for six from the line. Blair Gorniak started getting into the flow of the offense as he was fouled putting up a offensive rebound. Blair sank both free throws while Kelly Winter and Kevin Lolli each went one for two from the charity stripe. Kelly Winter and Michael Eubank made two 2-point buckets as the IRISH opened up a six point lead against the Alumni

Fiebig and the Alumni fought back but could not withstand the charge of the Varsity. Mike had five points in the fourth quarter and Eric Yates and Brent Walton added 2 points each while Kevin Cunningham went one for two from the charity stripe.

The final score was DUBLIN SCIOTO VARSITY 58 DUBLIN SCIOTO ALUMNI 52.

This was a fun night, the crowd was entertained by some awesome shooting; shot blocking and all out hustle by both sides! This formally opens the IRISH Season and thewebguy and Coach Bisutti hope to see everyone back on December 2nd as the IRISH host the Bulldogs from Athens High School. The Junior Varsity games starts at 6 PM and the Varsity starts at 7:30 PM!
