IRISH - Take Care of Business - Down Fighting Eagles

DUBLIN SCIOTO IRISH VS BIG WALNUT EAGLES

OUR QUEST........CONTINUES

IRISH FANS............

OK class, this is a lecture on Finance 101.

Now, who can tell thewebguy what Jamie Dimon, James D Rockerfeller, Charles Schwab, Anthony Bisutti, Randy Bachman and Eddie VanHalen have in common!

No, Timmy, they were not the back up band for Cat Stevens, Teaser and the Firecat album!

Dimon, Rockerfeller and Schwab are financial wizards who constantly need to ensure that Return On Assets remains at a high level to deliver results to their stockholders.

Anthony Bisutti knows that a basketball coach needs the same high "Return On Assets" from the athletes that he coaches every day and every week!

Randy Bachman, of Bachman, Turner Overdrive (BTO) said it well enough without worrying about return on assets with their hit song, Takin' Care of Business.

IRISH fans, that is exactly what your undefeated Green and White team did this Friday night...........they took care of the business in front of them.....

Lets talk basketball.....................

Junior Varsity - Dublin Scioto vs Big Walnut

thewebguy felt as if he was going to relive the results of the first game that the JV team had with the Eagles of Big Walnut.

The first game was a very low scoring game through the first three quarters with the IRISH not able to really sustain any scoring consistency.

Then in the fourth quarter, two freshman guards, Chris Green and Matt Martin entered the game and ignited a come back that led the IRISH to a 29-26 victory.

IRISH fans, it almost happened again! Destin Thomas, Dylan Coscia and Jason Teimeir kept the IRISH within striking distance tonight.

The Green and White were down by 11 points at the end of the third quarter. Enter the freshman sparks!

With the IRISH playing a tight and tough defense and three point shooting by Chris and Matt, the IRISH whittled the 11 point deficit down to 3 points.

Unfortunately, the Fighting Eagles of Big Walnut came up big at the foul line in the last minute and pulled victory from the grasps of the JV team.

thewebguy likes the spark that these two guards bring to the team. Sparks and team competition can ignite a good fire!

thewebguy looks to the two main leaders, Dylan and Jason to keep the team cohesion together and battle through these tough losses!

Chris Green and Matt Martin led the IRISH with 6 points each. Destin Thomas and Dylan Coscia added 5 points each.

The Junior Varsity team is 2-13 on the year and 1-6 in OCC Capital Division play.

The JV's will play an away game against Mount Vernon High School on January 27, 2007.

The final score of the JV game was Big Walnut 40 and Dublin Scioto 32.

Varsity Game - Dublin Scioto vs Big Walnut

The result of this game would set the tone for the final five games of the season. thewebguy sensed that the seniors were very focused this evening!

The seniors delivered a solid team message. All five starters got into the scoring column in the first quarter.

The IRISH got started with outstanding ball movement between O'Connell, Lolli and Eubank. Michael fired the ball back inside to Kevin and he layed it in for the first points of the game and the IRISH were off and running!

The Fighting Eagles of New Albany began the game showing that they were willing to match the IRISH basket for basket. They took an early lead 4-2 with the IRISH coming down the floor on offense. A missed shot was picked off by Austin O"Connell and he put it back in to bring the IRISH even at 4 apiece.

Michael Eubank hit a big three point basket and the IRISH never looked back as they took a 13-7 lead at the end of the first quarter.

An investment specialist knows the importance of diversification of his/her portfolio. So too does Coach Bisutti know the diversification of his bench. He continued to deploy his assets at strategic points in the second quarter.

The Big Walnut Eagles were hanging around within 2 to 3 points in the second quarter. Rainer Duzan helped the IRISH cause hitting on a three point basket from the corner. Adding to this basket, Lolli, Winter and O'Connell continued their attack and the IRISH "hedged" their first quarter investment with a five point lead at half-time, 25-20.

Coach Comstock attempted to slow the game down in the first half. Probably to avoid player fatigue that occurred in the first meeting. thewebguy was convinced that he would come out with both guns blazing and allow his pure shooter, Jason Almendinger and his son, Kenton Comstock to drive to the basket at will.........well...well, it just goes to show you that thewebguy was wrong here!

While Coach Comstock continued to play a slow deliberate offense in the second half, Coach Bisutti notched up the defensive pressure in order to "squash" any return the Eagles felt they might gain.

It worked very well as Michael and Ben continued to harass the BW guards and the IRISH created nine turnovers. Kelly Winter benefited and took the ball into score twice and hit on two free throws from the charity stripe. These seniors knew they needed to Take Care of Business!

The IRISH had a commanding lead at the end of three quarters, 37-27.

Just as the football player holds his helmet up in his right hand and flashes the number "4" with his left hand to signify the fourth quarter, the basketball player does the same!

The stockbroker knows that in the last hour that the market is open, he/she can make up for any trades made earlier in the "game." The fourth quarter is The Game!. It is the quarter that a player will be remembered for until the next time he plays the game!

The IRISH took no losses in the fourth quarter tonight.

Mr. Consistent all night long, Kevin Lolli opened the fourth straight quarter with a basket underneath. Kelly Winter went 5 for 6 from the charity stripe while Austin O'Connell added 2 baskets and 4 for 5 from the charity stripe.

The IRISH got good floor time from Blair Gorniak tonight. Blair filled in tonight with the second platoon and gave an excellent return on investment. His play will not be seen in the scorebook but by thewebguys standards, his rebounding, his hustle and desire to play showed every time he was on the floor.

Ben Ashwill has got to be the sneakiest and quickest defensive player the IRISH have had in years! Ben continues to play heads up basketball. No, he is not the flashiest player, he just gets it done!

Michael Eubank came up big tonight not only on the defensive side of the court but on offense too! Michael continues to anticipate his players move and gets to the spot to cause turnovers!

Marco StJohn added three points tonight for the IRISH. Rainer Duzan, David McKinley and Spenser Mooney maintained ball possession when the Eagles were attempting to trap and double team the ball handler.

These are just a few of the "assets" that Coach Bisutti continues to obtain a high rate of return every game!

In the coming weeks thewebguy will be focusing on the senior class but for now..........let's continue to....Takin' Care of Business.........

The IRISH were led by Kelly Winter with 16 points; Kevin Lolli and Austin O'Connell scored 12 points while Michael Eubank followed up with 8 points.

The final score was Dublin Scioto 58 and Big Walnut 39.

Oh....yeah...IRISH fans, put a guitar in Eddie VanHalen's hands and the Return on Assets goes through the roof............Happy Birthday, Eddie!

The IRISH are 15 and 0 overall and 7-0 in the OCC - Capital Division.

Dublin Scioto travels to Mount Vernon for a non-league game with the Yellow Jackets on Saturday, January 27, 2007. The Junior Varsity game time is 6:00 PM and the Varsity will start around 7:30 PM

............Ground Control to the IRISH..........You've really made the grade.......now its time to continue your quest........

You have more to prove and more to lose. Everyone will be gunning for you now that you have more recognition...........how bad do each of you want it?.........what are you willing to do to get the "golden" fleece?

The quest continues.......
