 Dublin Scioto vs Olentangy

DUBLIN SCIOTO IRISH VS OLENTANGY BRAVES

A TOUGH ONE AT HOME

IRISH FANS............

The IRISH played before an exuberant crowd tonight in their home gym. It was exciting to see the Scioto students answer the cheers of the Worthington Kilbourne students.

The JV's won for the second time while the varsity lost a close one to the Kilbourne Wolves. You might say "THE HARD ROAD" way! Thewebguy's description is more like the song from JETHRO TULL-"Thick As A Brick."

Lets talk basketball.....................

Junior Varsity - Worthington Kilbourne vs Dublin Scioto

The JV team did not have much trouble with the young Wolves team last night as they displayed a team game effort behind the shooting of Blair Gorniak and Bradley McDougald.

The majority of the damage done by the IRISH was from the right side or driving down the middle from a fast break. This team shares the wealth in getting the ball to the open player.

The young IRISH held a 25-13 lead at half-time and did not look back until after the fourth quarter with the final score of 48-33.

The defensive pressure applied went far into explaining and understanding the margin of victory. The entire lineup showed much confidence in their game and when you have confidence you play a more relaxed game!

The Scioto scoring was lead by Bradley McDougald with 17 points, Blair Gorniak with 10 points, Rainer Duzan had 8 points and Devon Ross and Marco St John chipped in 7 and 6 points respectively.

The final score was of the JV game was Dublin Scioto 48 and Worthington Kilbourne 33.

Varsity - Worthington Kilbourne vs Dublin Scioto

A senior laden Wolves team came into the Scioto Gym last night. The Worthington Kilbourne Wolves starting lineup is senior laden and a tall one. Coach Bisutti and his IRISH had a challenge awaiting them as WK height advantage was BIG!

How big you ask? Try Jordan Lookabaugh at 6"5", Austin Dahn at 6'4", Ben Gaskill at 6'9"; Brandon Martin at 6'4" and Kevin Lookabaugh at 6'5". Thewebguy is sure that the Wolves coach would like to bottle some of that height and save it for the coming years.

The IRISH opened their offensive play book and took the game right at the bigger Wolves lineup. The IRISH shot a lot but missed many opportunities to open up a bigger lead than the 7-4 score showed at the end of the first quarter.

On defense, they played at a very high intensity. Thewebguy was thrilled and the crowd was into this game! Clark Crum and Jake Doherty scored all seven points for the IRISH in the first quarter. Clark corralling 5 points while Jake put in 2 points.

Offensively, the IRISH continued to go inside and many times missed key opportunities to jump out to a big lead. They settled for a 16-13 half-time lead.

The third quarter brought more of the same for the IRISH. They could not get their shots to fall as they relinquished the lead to the Wolves and were behind by two points at the end of the 3rd period.

The IRISH matched their first quarter output of 7 points. However, they continued to play a very solid defensive game against the patient offense of WK. Thewebguy was pleased at how well the defensive game continued to be played by the IRISH in spite of the offense missing their shots.

The Wolves worked for every basket they made. WK left the floor at the end of the third quarter with a 25-23 lead over the Dublin Scioto.

The fourth quarter again was a mirror image of the first three quarters for the IRISH. They went inside, they shot outside and the ball was not falling through the net as much as thewebguy likes.

Twice the IRISH went to the foul line for a one and one opportunity and it was not meant to be. The IRISH did not convert these freebie opportunities!

The Wolves, however, went to the line 14 times in the 4th quarter and capitalized on eight of them to close out a 37-32 victory.

The IRISH got a three point basket by Clark Crum in the closing seconds of the game from the top of the key. A nice bank shot that, yes, thewebguy called for Clark prior to it hitting the bottom of the net.

This game should not be written off as a total loss. Thewebguy was very pleased with the defensive play. They held a WK team to half the points they had scored in their previous game. The IRISH played for 4 quarters. They left their game on the floor. A fan cannot ask for any more than that.

And as for Jethro Tull and THICK AS A BRICK------"I'm a bad dream that I just had today--and you shake your head and say it's a shame!"

The Scioto scoring was led by Clark Crum with 16 points; Kelly Winter with 5 points and Austin O'Connell with 5 points.

The final score was Worthington Kilbourne 37 and Dublin Scioto 32.

Dublin Scioto plays another tough opponent - GROVE CITY at home on FRIDAY, December 16, 2005. Junior Varsity game time is 6:00 PM while the Varsity will start around 7:30 PM
