Entering the Division I Central District tournament, the Dublin Scioto boys basketball team is preferring to focus on itself rather than potential opponents.
Coach Tony Bisutti is of the opinon that early round games are more about solidifying the approach of the IRISH (13-7) than worrying about what other squads are bringing to the table.
"We've devoted a lot of attention to just getting better," Bisutti said. "With this group, they've always responded to our challenges as a staff."
Indeed, Scioto is scheduled to open the post season at 5 PM Saturday at the Ohio Expo Center Coliseum. The IRISH will take oneither Whetstone or Teays Valley.
A likely collision with fourth-seeded Westerville South may be looning in an eventual district semi-final. Third-seeded Reynoldsburg and fifth-seeded Upper Arlington are still left in the bracket as well.
But for Bisutti, he is hoping that his club still has yet to peak despite an above average regular season.
"We're doing a lot of good things, in all areas," the head coach stated. "Since mid-January, we have yet to put together a total game.
Concluding the regular season Friday, the IRISH dispatched visiting Westerville Central 58-38 to sew up second place in the Ohio Capital Conference Cardinal Division behind champion Grove City.
Scioto broke open a tight affair with a 22 point fourth quarter. The contest was deadlocked 17-17 at intermission.
Chris McLain led the way with 19 points, while Clark Crum finished with 12 for the IRISH, who take a modest two game winning streak into the tourney.
